Loveable and affectionate, the Budgerigar is one of the most popular pet birds. Our Budgie care guide will help you keep them healthy and happy companions.

Budgerigars, or “budgies, ” are a type of small parrot that originated in Australia. Budgies are social and playful birds that enjoy interacting with their owners and other birds.

Budgies live about 10 years in captivity.

Budgie Size:

Budgies are small, stocky birds that typically grow to about 7 inches long and have about a 12 inch wingspan. They have a round head, green and yellow body, and short, stubby tail.

Budgie Care:

Budgerigars are one of the most popular pet birds. They are both social and playful, which makes them a great pet for those living alone. These birds are also fairly easy to care for, but there are a few things that you should keep in mind.

Budgies can be quite talkative too, which comes as a shock to some, but these little parakeets can learn to mimic hundreds of words and phrases.

Some owners can train their budgies to do tricks, but not all. Budgerigar, or budgies are one of the best first pet birds.

Budgies are popular pets and easy to care for, but they can be a little temperamental. Budgies need to be socialized from an early age and should be kept in pairs or groups to keep them happy and healthy.

Budgie Diet:

Budgerigars are small birds that enjoy eating a wide variety of fruits, berries, vegetables, and seeds. They also like to chew on lettuce and other leafy greens.

A balanced and varied diet is important as Budgies are vulnerable to several nutrition-related illnesses.

Budgie Habitat:

Budgies don’t need a very large cage, but keep in mind it’s suggested to keep them in pairs or groups, so a cage that is large enough to let your Budgies spread out and hop around freely in is necessary.

Budgie Behavior:

Like all pet birds, Budgies require care and attention on a daily basis. They are social creatures that can become very attached to their owner.

They love and need toys. A study was done to determine if there is a correlation between how often a bird interacts with a toy and how playful the bird is. The researchers found that the budgies that interacted with the toys more often were more playful.

Budgies like to be held by their owners frequently, and will even turn to people if they are in need of care, and will make clicking noises, much like the sound of cockatiels.

One of their most common behavioral problems is feather plucking, which is a sign of stress in budgies. Learn more about the health of Budgies here.
